Where wine and honey flow

The wine cellar and vineyard are not the only busy places in the Winery Cobenzl Vienna. We also have our own bee colonies and produce our own delicious organic Viennese honey from the Cobenzl.

Honey from organic beekeeping

Beekeeping at the Cobenzl follows strict organic beekeeping methods. The choice of location is just as important as healthy bees, feeding, natural building material for the bee nests and organic honey production.

The City of Vienna’s Forestry Office is responsible for the natural management of the Vienna Woods surrounding the Cobenzl. The large variety of trees and shrubs in the Vienna Woods provides food for our bees from spring to late summer.

An analysis of bee pollen has shown that our bees prefer lime blossoms as well as the blossoms of ailanthus, dandelions and European chestnuts. The result is a mild and aromatic blossom honey with an excellent taste. Our honey has also received the top quality award in "gold" from the Österreichische Imkereizentrum (Austrian beekeeping centre).
